Join us Up On The Roof on Saturday 29th May for a taste of la dolce vita!
It’s no secret that we love the Italian way of cooking and eating, it is a constant inspiration to us! Summer is on it’s way and there are some wonderful ingredients available - as always we’ll be serving them up deliciously simply.
All dishes are designed to share, from the kitchen & from the fire. Order as much as you like, graze & feast! Dishes will be served from the kitchen & fire when they are ready.
This is a 'super special' daytime only event - and for those who fancy a double hit - join us for The Italian Canteen in The Mowbray later on in the evening...
Up On The Roof…
We cook with charcoal and wood and with fire and flames Up On The Roof.
Fresh BBQ beachy vibes and all the flavour from low and slow.
As ever we’ll be serving up seasonal and exceptional ingredients so we’ll be working to a daily menu with a ‘what’s great right now’ thinking.
There’s something really special about cooking and eating outside - senses are heightened, great vibes happen and we’re hoping we can create a really special rooftop hideaway for you to enjoy!
There’ll be plenty of garden cocktails and beers from our rooftop bar, a spring/summer al fresco soundtrack and plenty of good mood food and feels...
Up On The Roof is found on our private first floor rooftop which was part of the restoration of The Mowbray. It’s a complete hideaway escape and we’ve curated it so it feels vibrant as well as safe.
FROM THE CUCINA
Focaccia - Mowbray made, freshly baked and drizzled with olive oil (v, ve, g) £3
Salmon ‘scapece’ - lightly pickled with garlic, lemon & fennel £7
Chargrilled portobellos, topped with soft cheese & garlic pangrattato (v, g) £6
Whole burrata, with roast peaches & basil (v) £10
Isle of Wight Tomatoes, dressed with fresh basil, house infused dark fruity vinegar with wild rocket (v) £5
Orecchiette pasta tossed with garlicky kale, pine nuts & a touch of chilli (v, ve, g) £7
FROM THE FIRE
Grilled squid, marinated with garlic, chilli & lemon with chorizo & garlic aioli £9
Pork chop marinated with oregano, rosemary & garlic and cooked over the fire. With fresh herb gremolata £10
Coal roasted potatoes with rosemary & sea salt (v) £4
Tiramisu - our house recipe made from fresh Darkwood’s espresso & mascarpone zabaglione £6
Amalfi Lemon tart with mascarpone & raspberries £6
Spring into Summer
Up On The Roof will be open as an outdoor feast from mid April and will run solely as our only dining experience at The Mowbray until further restrictions are lifted from mid May. From the 19th of May we will (if all goes to plan with the government roadmap) be opening The Mowbray for Supper Clubs and Bistro alongside Up On The Roof.
Dates for Up On The Roof, Supper Club and Bistro are already very limited as we have a full schedule of private events - but in between times we really hope you can join us for some dreamy feasting times on our beautiful roof!
Up On The Roof is also available to hire privately for outdoor wedding receptions.
Come prepared! Bring rugs, blankets, coats, sunscreen, sun hats and wooly hats! We’re going to be booking and cooking in all weathers except rain! We hope that you join in the spirit of our outdoor adventure and book to join us whatever the weather!

How To Book
Up on The Roof is ‘bookings only’ and must be made via our online shop. For private events and if you’d like to book a full table for 10 please email us on email@example.com
To secure your booking we take a £5 deposit per person, which will be refunded via our online shop on your arrival. We will retain this deposit in the event of a no-show. We have limited numbers 'Up On The Roof' and we ask that you do order food alongside your drinks. We may retain your deposit if you choose to just order a drink. Please speak to us about this if you have any questions! Cancellation within 48 hours of your booking means your deposit is none refundable.
